Something's happening

You know how I wrote a bucket list for summer, with one goal being to make a smash book. So I am always on the look out for cool lettering, drawings or bibledoodles. Some of you may also know that social media platforms have become one of my love languages. So I take notice on Pinterest, Instagram, & Twitter of any of the above noted things I find interesting.



A strange thing happened the other night as I was spotting such examples of cool bible doodles & lettering.






I noticed many of these examples had a descriptive hash tag of: #shereadstruth

What is that I wondered?!?
Well I did a little research and found a wonderful on line blog offer a community of support, encouragement & accountability to women on line of all ages in doing daily biblestudy.

Uses & encourages others to use the youverse app or website to follow along different daily plans. They have chosen the "Proverbs" plan this time, which I believe is a 31 day plan. You are supposed to "click" a picture of your bible/notepad/location of where you are reading and studying the word of God and upload it and share with others what your studying via Facebook, instagram, twitter, Pinterest etc..



What a great source of positive encouragement and reminder to read God's word daily and to witness to others.



You can follow along the blogs daily insight and pictures on their blog or other social media sites. Maybe you will notice other pictures like I have, maybe you can witness to others through a picture. You know they say sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words!


So come on, if you are looking for inspiration or encouragement jump on the band wagon!

I love the sense of community this offers if you are unable to participate or go to a women's bible study due to scheduling issues,a busy life, example: small kids & no child care, full time working mom who needs to spend her evenings with family, a daughter or wife who is a caregiver & can not get away for long periods of time, or maybe you do not know any other believers to join with, well now you can!!


Something's is happening and you can be a part of it to!

Crayon wall art!

Well if you have been inspired to make some crayon art work now is the time to do so!!! Crayons are on sale for back to school so you can pick up 3 boxes for what you would normally spend on just 1 box.




Start with a plain canvas. Any size will do! Next grab your glue gun and start gluing on your crayons.




We laid out all the crayons of the shade of crayons we were working with and made a pattern. (you would not have to do this but one of my daughters is a "type A" personality, so trust me when I say, we had to do this step. (it also let's you visually check to make sure that you have enough crayons purchased)




Next we found a silhouette on line that we liked, and printed it out. You might have to print a few different sizes out in order to ensure that your image is the correct scale that you want.




We used graphite paper to transfer the image to the back of some black vinyl that I already had. Contact paper would work as well. Once the Image has been traced onto the back of the vinyl/contact paper grab your scissors and start cutting it out.
I then held up the image to the canvas (with backing still on!! To eyeball the area that I wanted to tape off). Note: you must use a good painters tape like Frog tape, not masking tape. Again I repeat myself not masking tape- it will not stop the dripping wax.




(note masking tape was used in this picture. Learn from my mistakes). I then grabbed my Embossing heat gun and turned it on, and started to melt those crayons. I focused on the tip of the crayons that were pointed down. I would follow some of the dripping wax down the canvas with the heat gun to various degrees down the canvas.




Then remove the protective tape & peel the backing of the homemade sticker image & apply to the open area on the canvas. (both the dancer & girl with umbrella was a Pinterest try the only source I can find to give credit to is @danielle Milner, if this is incorrect I apologize. A Pinterest Party!

A few weeks ago I decided to host a Pinterest party. A Pinterest party is where you invite a group of friends over to take the time to make some pins/crafts that you have been pinning.

I had red bags out for each lady to label & place their goodies in as they went from center to center.


I tried to make centers so the girls would have to circulate, and everyone could work at their own pace. Below is an example of one of the centers. This center was the "Brown sugar scrub center".



The instructions and ingredients or supplies needed could be found at each center or station.



Above is the brown sugar in cute containers ready to be taken home & tried out.


Above is a picture of dry erase tiles used to label drink or food area. There were stickers & extra stuff so each girl could decorate & take home two, along with a dry erase marker.


Above is a picture of a styrofoam ball being covered with thumbtacks all over. Once fully covered they could be left silver/gold as the thumbtacks or they could be spray painted before using them in decorating by filling a hurricane vase.


Isn't the above the cutest coffee cup. I thought this would be the easiest craft to supply. I purchased mugs at the dollar store-no problem! Then I strolled I to Michaels Craft store to purchase the "porceliane" marker that I had read about on about 4 different projects on Pinterest. ALL of them listed "Michaels" as the place to purchase a
Pebeo Porcelaine 150 Paint Markers. Did mine have this - no! Agh! (I'm sure you heard my cry of frustration!). I called all around town & no luck. I even tried Hobby Lobby craft store, no luck! This was the morning of the party so I had to go with plan b, which was sharpie brand paint pen.

The mugs turned out cute but to be honest they did not hold up to the dishwasher. If I had planned better, I wish I would have ordered this pen on line.

I had each girl bring a snack or dessert from Pinterest to share. I served drinks from Pinterest. I think it was overall a fun night!

Pinterest Party

I am so excited! I am getting ready to host a "Pinterest Party" this upcoming week.

If you are not familiar with a pinterest party, it is where you invite some friends over (in my case some ladies from our church). I will have centers set up where my guest can work on different craft "pins" or "projects" that I pinned on Pinterest. Everyone will get to take their projects home with them.

I asked each guest to bring either an appetizer or goodie that they have pinned on Pinterest to share. I think this will be fun way to get to sample some of the items we have seen on Pinterest.

I'm a social person so I think crafting will be much more entertaining if we are getting to visit while we craft. Stay tuned for pictures and more details of the party on Thursday!

Due to my obsession with Pinterest - I felt I was obligated to try some new things this last week. My first attempt at something new was making the Rollo Brownie (see below) Here is a link to the recipe found on baking addiction that was posted by guest blogger Kristan from Confession of a cookbook queen. Her blog is to die for!

The second thing I was inspired to make for this past holiday weekend was the above photo of Mexican appetizer cups. My family loved these! Some even went so far as to say "just mix the filling and set it out in a bowl and serve with tortilla chips and call it a day". You can find this recipe at the Pillsbury website.

I also painted the little princess's toes to look like strawberries. (sorry I had not cleaned up the paint that had gotten on her toes before I took this picture) . She however did not care - she loved her strawberry painted toes.

Above is a photo of the oldest princess's nails when we were about half way done "tie dying" her nails. You can find an amazing tutorial at "hey nice nails!". This was a fun activity, but really messy!
